Emergency Management by Lucien G. Canton, CEM

Program Support

Effective crisis response is the product of a structured emergency management program. Sadly, most “programs” are collections of tasks and duties and could benefit from expert advice. However, in the absence of a big consulting contract, such help is usually out of reach for many organizations. Up until now, there were really only two choices for developing an emergency management program: perform the work in-house with inexperienced staff or bring in an expensive outside consultant. I offer a third alternative that combines the cost savings of in-house development with the expertise of an experienced consultant.

Program Support is a low-cost retainer arrangement that allows you to have the benefits of expert advice while staying within your limited budget. During the term of our agreement you have unlimited access to me by phone and email. I serve as a resource for your program team, providing advice and guidance as needed. I can offer suggestions on strategy and on various operational approaches to your projects. I can point you towards relevant documents and information sources. In short, I can help your team work more effectively and produce better results.

What can you expect?

  • Your staff becomes more productive since work is focused and results are achieved.
  • Your stakeholders are more willing to support your program when they understand their roles and see results.
  • More productive use of staff and stakeholder time can reduce costs, freeing up budget dollars for other program improvements.
  • Your organization is better able to deal with crisis.
